Seattle: Pike Place Market Chef-Guided Food Tour

About This Experience
Pike Place Market is a twenty-minute walk or a short monorail ride from Seattle Center, and it is the obvious second half of a day that starts with glass. This walking tour makes nine tasting stops across the market with a working chef rather than a general guide.
The stops are where Seattle kitchens actually shop, and the commentary is about sourcing as much as eating: how to pick fish, what is in season, which stalls the city's restaurants buy from. You skip the Pike Place Chowder queue, taste chocolate-covered Rainier cherries at Chukar Cherries, and eat tacos made by the people who own the stall.
You also leave with a card giving 10% off at selected partner vendors, which is worth something if you go back to shop.
Groups average 10–12 people. It moves at a fair pace over hills and stairs, and the bites are small and frequent rather than a sit-down meal.

This food tour was an amazing experience. Our guide Will was very knowledgeable about the stops and provided interesting culinary facts as we went along the route. He was also attentive to any food allergies present in the group. The food was delicious, and it was great to skip the lines. We would highly recommend this tour with Will!

Chef Sean was a wonderful guide, very friendly and knowledgeable! We loved not only getting to taste a bunch of local food, but learn about Pike’s Place’s history and the community! It was lots of fun, and of course all the food from all the places we visited was delicious! Highly recommend this experience, totally worth it and great value! A great way to learn about local shops and restaurants if you’re a tourist like we are.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this enough food for a meal?
Close to it. Nine stops of small bites over two hours leaves most people full enough not to want dinner straight after, but it is a grazing tour, not a seated meal.
Can it work around dietary requirements?
Not for dairy-free or gluten-free — the operator states outright that it cannot substitute for those. Other preferences are worth raising when you book.
How far is Pike Place Market from Chihuly Garden and Glass?
About a mile. It is a twenty-minute walk downhill, or a two-minute Seattle Center Monorail ride from Seattle Center to Westlake plus a short walk.
What if it rains?
The tour runs regardless. Much of Pike Place is under cover, but the walking between stops is not — bring a jacket rather than an umbrella in a crowd.
